About

Some years ago I had the privilege of spending time with my Uncle In Law, Marshall ‘Bunny’ Harjo who was full-blood Seminole. His parents emigrated from Florida as children when the tribes were removed to the west in what is now Oklahoma. There was a small suitcase filled with photographs, mostly family, but one photograph in particular caught my eye. It was a picture of a large building on a mostly tree less plain, an imposing structure. Uncle Bunny told me it was Mekasukey  a boarding school for Seminole children. He didn’t attend and couldn’t recall how the picture came into his possession. I was immediately interested and started my research, thus Seminole Nation, I. T. was born.
